why book local?

Cabo Costa Charters is a social project between A Mijares SC, a fishing Co-Op based in San Jose Del Cabo, and Nervo Group LLC, a California based social media and digital marketing agency. To understand how and why this project came about, its important to know a few things about the Cabo San Lucas tourist industry, and its relationship to the local workforce that may surprise you:

• The average wage for nearly 80% of the local workforce is approx $2 per hour.

• In Mexico, there are no trade unions, nor overtime protection.

• It's been estimated that for every $1 spent by tourists, less than 2 cents go to the local workforce in the form of wages.

• According to a 2022 study by the Secretary of Tourism, nearly two-thirds of the population in Baja live at, or under the poverty line.

So back to this social project...

We basically think it's fucked up that the hotels pay their workers shit, especially since without the locals they wouldn't have a business at all. So thats why we decided to join forces and do our part change that and put more cash directly into the community.

Therefore...

When you book your private charter with us, not only will you not get ripped off (heads up... be real careful buying any "tours" from the guys at the booths screaming "ill get you a deal" as you casually walk by with your margarita), but you are literally helping these people put food on the table and buy clothes for their kids. And kids are important, right? :P

Our mission

Our mission is to assist the local working class community in claiming a bigger slice of the tourist pie. Specifically, this website is an attempt at helping ‘A Mijares SC’ generate more business by getting their marketing efforts up to speed with the modern era, and helping them get a competitive advantage.

How we do it

The booking structure has been specifically designed to put as much cash money as possible, directly into the pockets of the locals. When you reserve your charter, you pay small deposit which is used to maintain the site and keep the Google ads running so we can hopefully keep these guys busy. The remaining balance is due when you check-in, and is paid directly to the Captain. CASH ONLY please. They can take your card but it creates a headache and the bank takes like 8%. No bueno.

And also

Aside from helping our mission move forward, there is another , arguably more important reason to book with us: Our Captains.

Our Captains, are second or third generation anglers that have fished Cabo their entire lives. Their intimate relationship with the Cabo ocean has granted them an uncanny ability to not only find the fish, but to seemingly call them forth. They aren't just Captains... They're Fish Whisperers. (Also they're all on the same team so they tell each other where the fish are on the daily)

In addition, as owner/operators, and proud member of the Co-Op, each Sea Wizard has a truly vested interest in giving you a world class experience. Rest-Assured you’re in good hands when you leave the docks. To them, fishing isn't just their hustle, it's their PASSION. It's their WAY OF LIFE.
